Do any of you know about the day our country's water was on fire? If you are my age or older or just a history buff, this day will be in your mind forever. The day I'm talking about is the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, on Dec. 7, 1941.

On March 31st, the Treasury Department announced a new plan to help the troubled financial sector weather the sub-prime mortgage storm. This new system replaces some agencies while redrawing the jurisdictions of existing authorities like the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve. In particular, the Fed's role in averting future crises is greatly expanded, a decision that is in keeping with the recent sea change in America's monetary policy.

Who would have thought it? Vegetables are being grown at Buckingham Palace for the first time since World War Two. The Queen has installed a vegetable and fruit patch already successfully yielding a bounty of Cambridge Favourite strawberries, which were served to her and Prince Philip on his 88th birthday.

If you are not familiar with the government of Japan, then the thought of having a ceremonial figurehead that is the great symbol, may seem a little different. This is the role that the Japanese Emperor holds, as he holds no true power but is there for ceremonial purposes. The Japanese government does have a Prime Minister, who is an appointed official.

Do you remember all the fuss that was going on in this country about immigration and all the problems that went along with it? Until this time, did you even realize how many people were in this country illegally? A lot of people knew of some cases where there were a lot of people brought into this country. One place that comes to mind is my hometown in Dakota City, Nebraska. The plant was Iowa Beef Processors, and it is still running and still hiring these workers. I applied and didn't get the job. I was told at the time that they were not hiring, but while I was there they took some of these people to give them drug tests and their name badges.

Amongst the people that disapprove of President Obama's policies are those that believe in free enterprise. They are looking at what he has done to attack the shareholders' and bondholders' private property concerning GM and Chrysler. They deplore the idea of being too soft in dealings and discussions with South Americans leaders that blatantly smear the United States. The heartily disagree with his stance on abortion the killing of the innocent.

Many people like Hillary Clinton because she is a strong minded, educated, and intelligent politician. A lot of feminists like her because she is a female politician that is liberal. Others respect her long history of working for the disenfranchised as a lawyer and politician.
